htpdate - HTTP Time Protocol client

SYNOPSIS

htpdate [ -anh ] host [host] [...]

DESCRIPTION

htpdate sets the system clock using the using "HTP" (the HTTP Time Protocol) from remote web servers.

OPTIONS

-n
Do not set the time, only ask the specified servers for it and print the calculated new time to standard output. Network latency and program run-time is taken into account when the value is printed. The default action is it set (or "slew" it if the -a option was specified) the time and print out the result.

-a

The -a option tells htpdate to attempt to slew the time to the correct value rather than setting it. The default is to set it.

-h

The -h option prints out basic usage information.

host

Query the webserver specified by host to update the time. Many hosts may be specified, but atleast one is required. The host parameter can be in the format of hostname:port. The port portion is optional, if omitted port 80 is assumed.
