Career Report - Computer Programmer | 09-29-97
+-------------
Computer programmers write the logically ordered steps that a
computer follows to preform their functions, called programs. In large
organazations, computer programmers use the descriptions prepared by
systems analysts to determine what steps to take and what inputs are
needed.
There are no standards for the level of education needed to be a
programmer because employers needs are so different. The level and
quality of education wanted by employers has increased as the number of
qualified applicants has. Some computer programmers have a two year
degree, a bachelors degree is becoming a standard requirement, and most
programmers have a four year degrees. Programmers often take courses that
will give them information on specific areas that they will work at.
Programmers work in large and small companies, and they may also
work freelance. Since all they need are computers to do they're jobs,
they may work almost anywhere.
